Our designs come from the desire to create smart things: minimalist in design, made for everyday use and designed to become everyday heroes.

We focus on a minimalist design philosophy with clever solutions for everyday life. Short distances, close cooperation with local businesses and carefully selected materials – these are our ingredients. Our wallets are handcrafted in Germany. Many of our suppliers are located in Germany, with our production partners less than 500 km from Berlin.

We choose materials according to their properties, origin and suitability for the product – including plant-based materials, vegan materials, leather and cotton, depending on what makes sense for the product in question.

We work with:
- The paper compound consists of 70% wood pulp and 30% rubber polymer.
- soft leather
- cotton for bags
- high-quality elastic bands from regional manufacturers
- tear-resistant thread for durable seams
We choose each material carefully, based on experience, function and personal contact with our suppliers.
Production
All ANDERS & KOMISCH wallets are handcrafted in Berlin and the surrounding area in Germany.
We produce in small quantities.
We work with local businesses.
Many of our suppliers are located in Germany, with our production partners less than 500 km from Berlin.
This way, each product is made by hand with care and attention to detail.

Which material have we been using for our wallets since 2017?
When we started developing the A&K MINI in 2017, we decided to use a material other than animal leather. Leather is a robust and proven material, but we wanted to explore other options for our wallets. We were looking for a material that would work well for a small, everyday wallet and offer its own distinctive character.
The paper-based material has a distinctive texture and develops a beautiful patina with use. It is vegan, extremely light and robust. The material is only 0.5 mm thick and stays remarkably flat in your front pocket.
The material is tear-resistant and water-resistant and is produced in Germany. With use, it becomes more supple and develops a patina with a character similar to leather.
The same material is also commonly used for applications such as jeans labels, book bindings and other products where a thin, durable material is required.
When we started with our A&K MINI wallets in 2017, they were available in just two colour combinations: brown/grey and black/black. The two elastic bands came from different manufacturers, and we preferred the black band in terms of quality. So we simply visited the manufacturer and asked whether other colours were possible.
You have to know that setting up a machine for a new colour is very time-consuming, and we would normally have had to order several thousand metres of elastic at once. Thanks to the personal contact, our manufacturer fortunately agreed to try it with us as newcomers.
That is how the A&K MINI gradually became available in many different colour combinations.
